It’s your backyard. Roll up your sleeves.
Every win on this site came from people who showed up at the right meeting at the right time, and from the people who paid for the work behind it.
Donate
The fastest way to help right now. Gifts keep us at every Route 120 meeting and pay for the printing, maps and outreach that bring neighbors along. Give once or monthly; monthly gifts let us plan for the long fights, like this one.
Stay informed
Our newsletter brings you timely updates on environmental issues in Lake County: what’s coming up for a decision, what it means for your community, and how to make your voice heard before the vote. When a Route 120 meeting or comment deadline is set, we send a short alert so you don’t miss it.
Volunteers are the heart of this work. Our wins happened because neighbors gave a few hours: showing up at a meeting, staffing a table, taking photos or writing a letter. Check the volunteering box and we’ll reach out with ways to help that fit your time.

Comment on Route 120
The single most useful thing you can do this year. It takes five minutes. Here is how.
Volunteer
No experience needed. Pick what fits your time:
- Come to a public meeting with us. We will brief you first and sit together. IDOT’s Route 120 Public Meeting #2 is Tuesday, November 10, 3–6 p.m., at the University Center of Lake County in Grayslake.
- Help at an event or cleanup. Tables, sign-ups, World Cleanup Day.
- Take photos of the wetlands, prairie and trails we are working to protect.
- Write, research or post. Letters to the editor, reading study documents, social media.
Host a workshop
